2011 AWARD NOMINATIONSThe Chamber of Commerce is governed by a Board of Directors made up of representatives of businesses and organizations throughout the community. This diverse group brings a wealth of business and leadership experience to help promote, build, and support the most effective climate for economic development. We are now accepting nominations for the following awards to be presented at the Annual Banquet on November 17, 2011. Forms must be returned to the Chamber office by Wednesday, October 19, 2011. 2011 Award Nomination Criteria Business of the Year Award - The business must e located in Culpeper County. The business must be a member in good standing of the Chamber. It should positively impact the community through its products and/or services. The business must be a responsible employer with community involvement. Henretty Award - This award is presented annually to an outstanding citizen of the County at the Chamber's Banquet. The recipient shall be selected on the basis of his or her contributions to society, whether such contribution be made individually or through various organizations. Sex, race, color or creed shall not be a factor in the selection. Contributions to society may be in the form of service or assistance rendered to individuals or to groups on a community, county or statewide basis and the emphasis shall be on achievements resulting in benefits rendered to their fellow men on a community, county or statewide basis. Service of community work of any kind carried on during that past shall be considered provided that the particular activities were projected to within five years prior to the granting of the Award. Activities resulting in any form of monetary gain to a candidate shall not be considered. The primary consideration shall be basic effectiveness of service and leadership which results in tangible accomplishments. The mere volume and number of activities in which an individual participates shall not be a primary factor. Most Improved Small Business of the Year Award - This award is open to the public and not limited to Chamber members. It is based upon the improvements made to the business loaction and the impact these improvements had on the community Non-Profit of the Year Award - Will be awarded to a Chamber member with the following criteria: Member of the Culpeper County Chamber of Commerce in good standing. Demonstrates strong relationship and chamber. Enhances the quality of life for Culpeper residents through organization's mission. Seeks partnerships with the Culpeper business community. Works and communicates with other community non-profit organizations. Maintains a leadership role within the community and/or the chamber. Reputable. Proven track record. Small Business Person of the Year Award - This award is open to the public and is not limited to chamber members. It is based upon the impact that the nominee has made on the business community within the last three years. Consideration is also given to commitment to the community. Young Professional Group Business Person of the Year Award - This award will be given to the business owner or employee that consistently displays the following: 21-40 years old, Chamber involvement, results orientation, customer focus, leadership and constancy of purpose, people development and involvement, continuous learning, innovation and improvement, partnership development, public responsibility. The Outstanding Agribusiness Award recognizes the achievement of an outstanding agribusiness that has successfully contributed to the economic stability of Culpeper. This award is usually presented in March of each year. |
